Why You Should Care And What You Can Do To Help

The soil erosion caused by deforestation can cause mudslides which clogs waterways and damages irrigation systems. In some cases they are so damaging that electric power is lost. You may not be a farmer but deforestation impacts you too. Trees absorb carbon dioxide which reduces the amount of greenhouse gases trapped in the atmosphere. When all those trees are cut down all of the carbon dioxide they absorbed is released into the atmosphere. This buildup of greenhouse gases causes global climate change which increases the probability of natural disasters. Everyone can do their part to help. You can buy certified wood products, go paperless whenever possible, limit your consumption of products that use palm oil, and plant a tree when possible.
